In May a GTA group from the United States and Europe visited the Usina Açucareira Pioneiras in the State of São Paulo.
The objective was to learn more about the potential for VRT in the sugar cane market. The Mill is using satellite and aerial images of the crop at mature stages to determine yield and define management zones where soil samples are then targeted. The soil samples form the basis for a VRT application map which is then executed during the planting and cultivating operations on the crop.
On their prototype machine which was made at the mill they have the possibility of varying two products and apply a third at a fixed rate. Their idea would be to have a variable rate on all three products allowing them to vary simultaneously.
